Accounts and transfers

Add cash, bank, card and savings accounts with their opening balance, move money between them with transfers, and archive the ones you close.

Fince can follow each place your money lives: cash, a bank account, a card, savings. Every transaction belongs to one account, and the Dashboard balance adds them all up.

  1. On the Dashboard, under Accounts, tap See all.

  2. Tap + at the top right.

  3. In New Account, type the Account name and choose the Type: Cash, Bank, Card, Savings or Other.

  4. Enter the Opening balance: what the account held before you started tracking it in Fince. For a card balance you owe, use a negative number, for example −450.

  5. Tap Save.

Moving money between accounts

  1. On the Accounts screen, tap the button with two arrows at the top right (you need at least two accounts).
  2. Type the Transfer amount and choose From and To.
  3. Under Details, adjust the date and add a note if you like.
  4. Tap Save.

A transfer is neither an expense nor income. It changes the two balances, but not the month’s income and expenses, your budgets or the amount left to spend per day. Paying off a card from your bank account is a transfer, for example.

To undo a transfer, swipe left on it in a transaction list and tap Delete: both sides are removed.

Choosing the account of a transaction

On the Add screen, the Account menu picks where an expense or income goes. Fince remembers the last account you used.

Balances and history

The card at the top of the Accounts screen shows the TOTAL BALANCE of your active accounts. Tap an account to see its own balance and every transaction booked on it. The Dashboard lists your first three accounts.

Editing, archiving and deleting

  • Swipe left on an account and tap Edit to rename it or change its type or opening balance.
  • Tap Archive for an account you closed. It keeps its history but leaves the totals and the account menus. It moves to Archived, where a swipe offers Unarchive. Your last active account can’t be archived.
  • An account can only be deleted while it has no transactions: open it with Edit and tap Delete account.
