Getting started with Fince

Set up Fince on first launch: pick your currency, your main account and its balance, choose the lock and reminders, then add your first expense.

Fince needs no account and no bank login. The first time you open it, three short screens set up the essentials, and you can change every choice later in Settings.

  1. On the welcome screen, tap Get started. If you already used Fince on another iPhone, see “Already using Fince?” below instead.

  2. On Set up your money, tap the Currency row and pick the currency you count in. You can search by name or by code.

  3. Under Main account, choose the account you use most: Cash, Bank, Card or Savings.

  4. Type its Opening balance: what the account holds before you start tracking it in Fince. For a card with a balance you owe, type a negative number. Then tap Continue.

  5. On Lock and reminders, turn on Lock with Face ID if you want the app locked, and Reminders for budget alerts and a nudge the day before a bill is due. Both are optional. Tap Start.

  6. You land on the Dashboard. To record your first expense, tap the Add tab at the bottom, type the amount, choose a category and tap Save.

Finding your way around

Five tabs sit at the bottom of the screen:

  • Home: the Dashboard, with your balance across accounts, the month’s income and expenses, what is left to spend per day, your accounts, upcoming bills and recent transactions.
  • Add: a new expense or income.
  • Budget: a monthly limit per category.
  • Stats: spending by category and the daily trend.
  • AI: the AI chat and the weekly insights.

On the Dashboard, the arrows on each side of the month name move between months, and tapping the month name opens the calendar. The buttons at the top right open search, hide amounts (the eye) and open Settings (the gear).

Once the month has a transaction, a small battery-style gauge appears next to BALANCE: the Health Score. It is based on the share of your income you keep this month. Tap it to read the advice.

Already using Fince?

On the welcome screen, tap I already use Fince, then:

  • From iCloud if sync with iCloud was on for your other iPhone. You need to be signed in to iCloud. Your accounts and transactions then download from your iCloud.
  • From a backup file to pick a JSON file exported from Fince’s Settings. The currency of the backup is preselected.

You still confirm the currency, then the lock and reminders, before you start.

Good to know

  • For a new budget, iCloud sync is off at first. You can turn it on at any time in Settings, under iCloud.
  • More accounts (a second bank, a savings account…) can be added later from the Dashboard, under Accounts.
  • Everything except the AI chat and online insights works without an internet connection.
