1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Fince ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application ("Fince" or the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Fince is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your financial data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties, except as described below for limited AI features.

3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
When you use Fince, the following data is stored exclusively on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework:
- Transactions you manually enter (amount, category, date, note)
- Budgets you create (category, limit, month, year)
- Custom categories (if supported)
- App preferences (theme, Face ID lock, notifications settings)
- Counters used for freemium limits (number of AI messages this month)
This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use an AI feature (see Section 3.2) or explicitly export it via CSV (see Section 3.3).
3.2 Data Sent to AI Service Provider (Anthropic)
When you use the AI Chat or AI Insights features, Fince sends a text summary of your recent transactions to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. This summary includes:
- Current month totals (income, expenses, balance)
- Top spending categories
- A list of up to 10 recent transactions (category, amount, date, optional note)
This data is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to Anthropic's servers. Anthropic processes the data to generate AI responses and returns them to your device.
What we do NOT send to Anthropic:
- Your name, email address, Apple ID, or any personally identifiable information
- Your location
- Your contacts
- Any unique device identifiers
How Anthropic handles this data is governed by Anthropic's own Privacy Policy, available at: https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy. As of the last update of this Policy, Anthropic states that API input data is not used to train their models by default.
You can avoid sending any data to Anthropic by not using the AI Chat or AI Insights features. All other features of Fince function fully without network connectivity.
3.3 Data Exported by You
If you use the "Export as CSV" feature, Fince generates a CSV file containing your transactions and saves it temporarily on your device. You may then share this file via iOS native Share Sheet (AirDrop, Mail, Messages, Files, etc.). Where this file goes after that is under your control, not ours.
3.4 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account information.
- We do not require you to create an account or sign in.
- We do not connect to your bank accounts, credit cards, or any financial institution.
- We do not use third-party analytics (no Firebase Analytics, no Mixpanel, no Amplitude, etc.).
- We do not display advertisements.
- We do not use third-party advertising identifiers (IDFA).
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, location, or calendar.
4. How We Use Information
The data stored locally on your device is used to:
- Display your transactions, budgets, and financial dashboard
- Calculate your monthly balance, savings rate, and Health Score
- Generate budget notifications when you approach or exceed budget limits
- Produce charts and statistics based on your spending
- Provide AI-generated insights and responses when you use AI features
5. Third-Party Services
Fince uses the following third-party services:
5.1 Anthropic (Claude AI)
Used to process AI Chat and AI Insights requests. See Section 3.2 for details.
5.2 Apple App Store and StoreKit
Used to process subscription purchases and manage Premium subscription status. Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
5.3 Apple Push Notification Service (APNs)
NOT used. All notifications are generated locally on your device.
We do not use any advertising networks, analytics services, crash reporting services, or other third-party SDKs beyond the two above.
6. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework, which encrypts data at rest using iOS native encryption tied to your device passcode/biometrics.
You may additionally enable Face ID Lock in the app's Settings to require biometric authentication before opening Fince. This adds a layer of protection if someone else gains access to your unlocked iPhone.
We do not maintain servers that store your financial data. There is no cloud backup initiated by Fince. You are responsible for backing up your iPhone if you wish to preserve your data (via iCloud or iTunes backup).
7. Your Rights
Because Fince does not collect personal information from you, most data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, LGPD, PIPEDA, etc.) have limited applicability. Nonetheless, you have the following rights at all times:
- Right to access: all your data is visible directly in the app.
- Right to delete: use "Reset all data" in Settings to permanently delete all transactions, budgets, and custom categories. This action is immediate and irreversible.
- Right to export: use "Export as CSV" in Settings (Premium feature) to export your transactions.
- Right to withdraw consent: uninstall the app. All local data is deleted by iOS when you uninstall.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK-GDPR, or the CCPA. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@fince.app.
8. Children's Privacy
Fince is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in jurisdictions where that is the applicable age). We do not knowingly collect information from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can address the issue.
9. Data Retention
Since all data is stored locally on your device, we cannot retain any data after you delete it or uninstall the app. AI requests sent to Anthropic are subject to Anthropic's own retention policy (typically up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted, as of the publication date of this policy).
10. International Data Transfers
When you use AI features, your transaction summaries are sent to Anthropic's servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries. By using AI features, you consent to the transfer of this data across borders.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Policy.
