Set monthly budgets by category

Give a category a monthly limit, follow its progress bar and get alerts at 80% and 100%. How budgets work in Fince, month by month.

A budget is a monthly limit for one expense category, say €300 for Food & Drinks. Fince compares it with what you actually spend and warns you before you go over.

  1. Tap the Budget tab. The Budgets screen shows the current month at the top.

  2. Tap the + button at the top right.

  3. In New Budget, check that the line under the title shows the right month (for example “Applies to October 2026”), then pick an expense category in the grid.

  4. Type the Monthly limit, for example 300.

  5. Tap Save. The budget appears in the list with its progress bar. Repeat for each category you want to watch.

Reading a budget

Each row shows what you have spent in the category this month, the limit under it, a progress bar and the share used (for example 45% used). The bar is green below 70%, orange from 70% and red from 90%. Past the limit, the row also shows by how much, for example over by €20.

Only expenses in that category and that month count. Transfers between your accounts never do.

Alerts at 80% and 100%

Fince sends a notification when a budget reaches 80%, and another when it reaches 100%. For that, notifications must be on: either Reminders on first launch, or in Settings (the gear on the Dashboard), under Privacy, the Notifications switch.

Changing or removing a budget

  • Tap a budget to open Edit Budget, change the limit and tap Save.
  • Swipe left on a budget and tap Delete to remove it. Your transactions are not affected.

Next month

A budget applies to one month: the one shown at the top of the screen. When a new month starts and has no budgets yet, tap Copy budgets from followed by the previous month: its budgets are copied with the same limits, and you can adjust any of them. Past months keep their budgets, so you can go back and compare.

Free and Premium

The free version allows up to 10 budgets per month; budgets of other months don’t count. Once a month has 10, tapping + opens the Premium screen. Premium removes the limit. Changing the limit of an existing budget always works.
