Track debts and repayments
Keep track of what you owe and what others owe you, record repayments in a few taps, and see your net position at a glance.
Money lent to a friend, a loan from family, a bill split with a flatmate: Fince keeps a simple list of who owes what, and books each repayment in your accounts.
On the Dashboard, tap Debts (in the row with Forecast and Goals).
Tap + at the top right.
In New Debt, choose I owe or Owed to me.
Fill in Who, the Amount and, if you like, a Note.
If there is a date to repay by, turn on Due date and set it. Dated debts appear in the forecast.
Tap Save. The debt appears under Open.
Recording a repayment
- Swipe left on the debt and tap Record payment.
- The Amount is already set to what is left. For a partial repayment, type a smaller amount; to go back to the full remaining amount, tap Pay everything.
- Choose the Account the money leaves or arrives in, and the Date.
- Tap Save.
When you repay what you owe, Fince books an expense on that account; when someone pays you back, it books income. The transaction’s note says who it was, for example “Repaid Sam” or “Received from Sam”. Once nothing is left, the debt moves to Settled.
Your net position
The card at the top, NET POSITION, adds up what is still owed to you and subtracts what you still owe. Say Sam owes you €50 and you owe €200 to your sister: the card shows − €150 and You owe more than you are owed.
Editing and deleting
- Tap an open debt to change the person, amount, note or due date.
- Swipe left and tap Delete to remove a debt. Repayments already recorded stay in your transactions.
Debts in the forecast
An open debt with a due date moves the forecast line on that date: down for what you owe, up for what you are owed. Only the amount still left counts.
